I had a lovely day thursday hidden away in the cabin with a few of my friends road-testing the layout for suitability and practicality. We managed to fit in nicely, with ample room for 6 crocheting as long as there was no dancing going on ;).  The only problem with workshops for friends though is that we were so engrossed in what we were making that the time flew by. We were supposed to be finishing around 3 but finally realised the time at 5.30! Note to self, put batteries in the clock!

We made some lovely mandalas to send off for Lucy to display at Yarndale ,  I hope to have some pictures to share in a few days.

I hope to be offering this class soon, the mandalas make beautiful coasters, table mats or just decorations. Contact me for details, although I will be advertising shortly.

On another note in my minds eye I can see some delicate white star-shaped ones hanging in the windows at Ch______s. ;)

Thanks Ladies for your time, you know who you are. And thanks too to my little birdhouse full of blue-tit babies who provided the soundtrack for the day, along with the blackbirds pitter-pattering across the roof!

Its tricky...

...getting back into this blogging business.
Not the writing part, or even taking the photos, but the simple act of navigating blogger! I don't remember it being this tricky before although maybe it's the hardware being difficult. I seem to think that I stopped trying to update on the iPad before because it was so tricky but now even the laptop is playing silly games, losing photos, putting them in the wrong place, and generally making things untidy. Still, practice makes perfect, and I'm sure I must be doing something wrong because everybody else seems to manage.

Anyway...back to the wallhanging

So far I've appliqued, stacked, cut and and mixed up, and now its time to start stitching it back together again.  Now I've used contrasting strips to join first one way...

..and then the other until the block  fits back together again.

It is now back to the size it started (in theory), and all the lines and applique line back up again.  And then do it again, 3 more times!

There's no significance at all to the fact that this one is turned around, thats just the way it happened to be when I took the photo.

Then I need to begin joining the blocks back together.

Getting ready

I'm making a wall hanging to go into the cabin, once I've cleared it out!
It's a magic tile design, with grapes, and I'm about halfway through.

Start with 4 IDENTICAL fabric appliqués.

Pile them on top of each other, and then cut them up!

Hello and welcome

I've dusted off my old blog, revamped and refurbished it and we're ready to go again. What do you think to the new name?
I've done so much since I last posted on here that there seems little point to trying to catch up so I'm just going to start again once I've done a bit of housekeeping.
First my cabin needs a spring clean, which hopefully won't take too long. Next I'm hoping to start some workshops so watch this space :)
